If you have received a citation from UTA, the fine can be paid by cash, check, e-check, or credit card. The amount paid will be applied to the citation. You are responsible for confirming that you have satisfied all outstanding fines.

For convenience, there are several options available to resolve the citation.

Online Payment

Pay the citation amount in full with a credit card or e-check on our payment website.



If you wish to make alternative arrangements for payment, you may contact the UTA Public Hearing Officer at 801-287-2601. You may also make an appointment to meet with the Hearing Officer.

Take the Public Safety Class

To take advantage of a possible fine reduction by taking the Public Safety Class, you must first contact the Public Hearing Officer (801-287-2601). If you fail to make contact in advance for this option, you may not get credit for the class.

Purchase a FAREPAY Card

To take advantage of the FAREPAY card option, you must first contact the Public Hearing Officer (801-287-2601). If you fail to make contact in advance for this option, you may not get credit for any purchase you’ve made because this option is only applicable for certain fare violations.

In-Person Payment

Pay the citation amount in full in-person at any UTA customer service location:


  • Ogden Transit Center (2393 Wall Avenue, Ogden)
  • Salt Lake City Customer Service Center (3600 South 700 West, Salt Lake City)
  • Provo Central Station (701 South Freedom Boulevard)

If you feel you have been wrongfully cited and would like to protest the citation, please contact the Public Hearing Officer at 801-287-2601.

Understanding Your Citation

1. Defendant Name, Date and Time of Offense, Location of Offense, and Citation Issue Date and Time: This information identifies who received the citation, when and where the incident occurred, and when the citation was issued.

2. Citation Number & Case Number: These numbers help UTA and the courts locate your case.

3. Officer Name & Officer ID: These identify the UTA officer who issued the citation.

4. Court Appearance Notice: This section explains that you may be required to appear in court between 5 and 14 days after the citation is issued. If you fail to appear, the court may issue a warrant for your arrest.

5. Court Location Options: This section shows which court has jurisdiction over your case. The correct court will be clearly marked with an X or a checkmark on your citation. Please contact that court directly to resolve your case.

6. UTA Civil Violations: These are non‑criminal violations handled by UTA’s internal process. Please call 801‑287‑2601 if you have questions or need assistance.

7. Criminal/Traffic Offenses: These are state‑level offenses that may require you to appear in a local justice court. To know which court has jurisdiction over your case, refer to the court location in section 5 of your citation. The correct court will be clearly marked with an X or a checkmark, indicating where your case is assigned.

 

Select Language:
