WHAT: The Utah Transit Authority will share its proposed 2026 budget and hear public comment during its annual budget hearing on Thursday, Oct. 30, with both in-person and virtual attendance options. The public comment period on UTA's 2026 budget proposal begins today, Oct. 8, and continues through Nov. 7.
The UTA budget proposal for 2026 includes $487.5 million in operating expenses and $331.7 million in capital investment funds operations and expansion of safe, convenient and reliable public transportation services in 77 Utah cities. The budget supports ongoing maintenance of infrastructure and aligns with a 30-year Long-Range Transit Plan developed with collaboration between UTA, the Utah Department of Transportation, regional planning partners and the people UTA serves. UTA is publicly funded through fares and local, state, and federal tax and grant sources and is governed by a full-time Board of Trustees.
