Persons with Disabilities

Utah Transit Authority (UTA) offers a 50% reduced fare on fixed route service (not valid on paratransit services) for qualified people with a disability. After verification and approval, a reduced fare card will be issued to the qualified applicant. The reduced fare card will expire 5 years after issuance and renewal application will need to be submitted. There is a $2 card replacement fee if the card is lost.

An individual with a disability is defined by the American with Disabilities Act (ADA) as a person who has a physical or mental impairment that substantially limits one or more major life activities, a person who has a history or record of such an impairment, or a person who is perceived by others as having such an impairment. [Disabilities] may include but [are] not limited to:

  • Respiratory, cardiac, or neurological disabilities, a person receiving dialysis, living with AIDS, MS or chronic progressive debilitating disease.
  • A disability that affects mobility, including but not limited to: people who are non-ambulatory, use a mobility aid, have arthritis or an amputation
  • A person who is blind or visually impaired
  • A person who is deaf or has a hearing disability
  • An intellectual disability or developmental disability
  • A psychiatric disability that is chronic in nature

Youth

Utah Transit Authority ('UTA') offers a 50% reduced fare on fixed route service (not valid on paratransit services) for qualified youth ages 6-18. (Ages 5 years and younger ride free when accompanied by a fare paying adult). After age verification and approval, a reduced fare card will be issued to the qualified applicant. The reduced fare card will expire 5 years after application date or when the applicant turns 19 years of age. There is a $2 card replacement fee if the card is lost.

Low Income

Utah Transit Authority ('UTA') will offer a 50% reduced fare on fixed route service (not valid on paratransit services). To receive the reduced fare, individuals must be 19 to 64 years old and meet one of the qualification criteria identified below.

  1. Be enrolled in one of the following Department of Work Force Services programs:
    • SNAP (Food Stamps)
    • Child Care
    • Family Employment Program
    • Medical Assistance
    • HEAT (Home Energy Assistance Target Program)
    • General Assistance (GA)
    • Cash/Financial Assistance (TANF)
  2. Household annual gross income (before taxes) must not exceed the max gross income as displayed below:

Senior

Utah Transit Authority ('UTA') offers a 50% reduced fare on fixed route service (not valid on paratransit services) for qualified people age 65 and older. After verification and approval, a reduced fare card will be issued to the qualified applicant. A reduced fare card will expire after 5 years from issuance date. A new renewal application must be submitted at this time. There is a $2 card replacement fee if card is lost.
