UTA releases mid-season updates for maintenance and improvement projects

SALT LAKE CITY (Aug. 7, 2024) — The Utah Transit Authority (UTA) will perform new maintenance and repairs at several locations in Salt Lake City beginning Aug. 10. Riders could experience delays of 15-30 minutes during construction on the Red, Blue, and Green TRAX Lines. Regular service will resume on Aug. 16.

UTA’s mid-season improvement updates affecting riders include:

  • Aug. 10-15: Maintenance and repairs on TRAX Red, Blue, and Green Lines at the Central Pointe Station rail interchange
    • Bus bridge for the Blue and Red Lines from Meadowbrook to Ballpark stations with stops at Central Pointe and Millcreek stations
    • Bus bridge for the Green Line from River Trail to Ballpark stations with a stop at Central Pointe
  • Aug. 10-13: Construction on the rail crossing at the intersection of 300 West and Andy Avenue
    • 300 West will be closed to traffic
  • Aug. 23-25: Parkway Ave Grade Crossing, Green Line TRAX disruptions impacting riders
    • Bus bridge will be in effect to accommodate riders
  • Mid-September: Grade crossing work at 9400 South, Blue Line TRAX disruptions impacting riders
    • Bus bridge will be in effect to accommodate riders
  • Mid-October: Grade crossing work at 9000 South, Blue Line TRAX disruptions impacting riders
    • Bus bridge will be in effect to accommodate riders
  • ADA accommodations will be in place
  • For support in navigating these temporary adjustments, look for UTA staff in white vests

Riders are encouraged to visit rideuta.com/construction for information on each project, including specific route changes and detour maps for traveling in and around the area during construction. Riders can also sign up for text and email service alerts to receive updates about specific routes.

“UTA’s goal is to complete these improvement projects as quickly as possible to ensure our service disruptions are minimal and the UTA infrastructure is safe and efficient,” said Jacob Wouden, rail infrastructure project manager at UTA. “We appreciate the patience and understanding of our community through short-term inconveniences in order to maintain the long-term quality and reliability of the UTA system.”

Construction for these projects will take place on a 24-hour schedule to minimize the service disruption timeline. Residents and businesses should expect nighttime noise, dust, vibration, and lighting. Construction schedules are approximate and subject to change due to weather or material and utility delays.
